(I was about to post the following, but we started watching Mrs. Doubtfire so I had to close my laptop)
So we're all in class right now. We just got done with our attendance group exercise. I'm going to blog about it. It was stressful for me because we had to do calculations and conversions. I am not good with numbers at all. I was at a total loss. Had it not been for my group mates, it would have taken me FOREVER to complete the task. How this is relevant to our class topic; is that I really believe in group support. Friends, neighbors, any human collaboration makes a huge difference in how, whether, and how much time it takes us to can get things accomplished in our daily lives. Imagine living in total isolation! Intolerably miserably. As an international student, I am often under a lot of stress having to manage being a full time student, full time single parent of a teenager with all the responsibilities and minute details that come with those two titles! My neighbor saw me taking out the trash the other day and said: "I often bitch and moan about my husband, but then I take one look at you; thousands of miles away from your family and friends, completely on your own, and I'm grateful that at least I have someone to share the burden of taking out the trash with!"
I told my neighbor that having her and the group of other great people on my street, is how I'm able to keep going :-)
